Meet Brenda

Brenda Knox, CFP® Brenda is President of Financial Elements, Inc. She has been a financial advisor for over 21 years, working at another fee-only financial advisory firm prior to founding Financial Elements, Inc. She has a wide variety of experience working extensively with clients in the creation of hundreds of financial plans.   She enjoys developing long term relationships with her clients and tailoring her services to her clients’ individual needs. She works with clients on investments, retirement and social security planning, cash flow and savings, insurance, estate, and college planning.

Brenda completed all five modules of the CFP® certification education program through the College for Financial Planning on an accelerated basis. She sat for and passed the comprehensive  CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ examination in 1997, and received her CFP® certification in 1999.   Brenda graduated from Roosevelt University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an Accounting major, and has an Associate in Arts degree from William Rainey Harper College. She was also a member of the Franklin Honor Society at Roosevelt University.  Prior to her work in financial planning, Ms. Knox worked for Ameritech Corporation in Hoffman Estates. Her positions there included leading a team of revenue analysts and working in general ledger accounting.

Brenda pursues continuing education on a regular basis. Through the CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) program through the Wharton School and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), she has earned her RPA (Retirement Plan Associate) designation and her GPA (Group Benefits Associate) designation.  She is a member of NAPFA (National Association of Professional Financial Advisors) and the FPA (Financial Planning Association).

Brenda has been a case study presenter at a NAPFA Midwest Conference.  In addition, she has previously served in an advisory capacity to the University of Illinois Extension services by reviewing financial planning literature for accuracy prior to publication.  She is past membership chair and symposium chair for the Midwest NAPFA Board.  Currently, she is serving as the Chair of the NAPFA Midwest Regional Board.  

In May of 2013, Brenda earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies.  The AIF® designation certifies she has specialized knowledge of fiduciary standards of care and their application to the investment management process.  

Brenda lives in Rolling Meadows and has a son in high school and a son in college.  She is actively involved in her community, serving as activity chair for Boy Scouts, treasurer for Cub Scouts, and as a council member at her church.  She is past president of her church council and  past co president and treasurer of PTA's.  Financial Elements also sponsors or has sponsored Rolling Meadows Youth Baseball,  Boy Scout Troop 168, Fremd HS Booster Club, Rolling Meadows Community Foundation, and Salute, Inc.  Brenda also volunteers her time with Homes for Heroes/NAPFA National Consumer Education Foundation providing financial planning for veterans. 

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner™ and federally registered CFP (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
